outdoor grid tracking

Knowledge Base > Outdoor Grid Tracking

How it Works

A grid of at least 3 ProxPoints is installed in the worksite. ProxPoints determine their own coordinates with their GNSS capability, and then work together to triangulate the location of a Tag in real-time using Bluetooth LE.

As shown in the diagram below, when a tagged asset enters the laydown yard and is placed in gridded areas (defined by you), it is picked up by all ProxPoints within range. The ProxPoints send the Tag information to Loop Cloud, where BlueCats’ location engine determines the position of the tagged material based on the relative strength of the Bluetooth signals received by the various ProxPoints. The more ProxPoints that can “hear” a tagged asset, the more accurate the location can be determined. The location information is displayed in the Loop Cloud interface, which can be accessed via web browser on a computer or mobile device.
